The construction of a 4 string bass ( jpdc)

I continued working on this custom 4-string bass I started a while ago . It will be a neck trough body type with active electronics . The body halves have already been glued up . ( swamp ash + myrtlewood )
A cocobolo fretboard has been cut and slotted.
Here you can see the process of making a 7 piece laminated neck .

neck strips before planing  , birdseye maple + wengĂ© + maple

jointing and planing the strips to size

dry-fitting and checking for eventual gaps

glueing up the 7 laminates with Titebond

Scraping off excess glue with a cabinet scraper before machine planing ( to keep my planerknives in better shape)

planed neck assembly , birdseye reflections are nice indeed !

Here I mark the 10 degree headstock angle with a homemade cnc template

imagining how it's going te be

The drawn angle

After a visit to my small bandsaw it looks like this.

correcting after machine jointing with a nice Lie Nielsen block plane

Headstock veneer shedua + padauk
Shedua was the closest I had to match the body top wood.

some glue and clamps before a night's rest.
